How Do I know When I Need My Natural Hair Ends Trimmed?

How do I know when I need my ends trimmed?

This is a really popular question that I get regularly. There is a such thing as trimming too much and not trimming enough. Trimming too much does not help with length retention. Not trimming enough, also, does not help with length retention. If your ends look like those in the video you do not need to read further, you need to get your ends trimmed immediately. But since I know you are not in the back of your head here are some signs to look for:

  1. Your hair no longer responds the way it use to.
  2. It tangles more than ever.
  3. Your ends get knotted really easily.
  4. You can't remember the last time you had the trimmed!
I know it is difficult to remember to get your natural hair trimmed regularly especially when you wear it curly! I would say set an alarm for at least two times a year just to kind of stay on track. If you have a stylist, ask them to let you know or simply pay attention to the above signs.
Here are my product and tool recommendations to keep your ends from splitting to quickly and to help you achieve the length you desire.
