...looking for the best hair product for two-strand twists? I ain't mad atya sis, do you and stay looking cute!
Fortunately for you...
...I have some great product suggestions for you below
]]>Twists/twist outs for naturals are pretty popular to say the least. However, some people still struggle with mastering their twists to get a defined take down. Also, this client left her twists (which most do because they don’t want to do a day under the dryer lol) so there’s no take down to see.
➿
➿
Some easy tips to keep in mind when wanting to achieve definition and less frizz with twists: take two even sections(even in thickness and length) twist all the way down without grabbing hair as you twist. Also, when removing unravel the exact opposite way you twisted. Fluff at the roots and do not separate the twists. Let the twists fluff out on their own over the next few days. The main problem people experiences they simply do not know when to leave well enough aloooooone.Too much fluffing and picking will cause frizziness

Products used: Creme de la curls and Macadamia oil styling foam. I typically use the foam because it dries faster than cream!

Let's talk about what a detox treatment is briefly and then we can address the signs. A detox treatment for the hair is the removal of product build up, bodily fluids (sweat, oil secretion, etc.) and environmental elements from the hair. A detox treatment for the hair is very similar to what we do for our bodies. When we know we have been eating unhealthy things for a certain amount of time we detox to get rid of those bad things that just sit in our body and make us sluggish! Same as with hair!
The fives signs are:
1. If you have been wearing protective styles consistently for months to years. Yes, of course, you have removed the protective styles but you have removed them to get them right back a few days later. Over those months of not constantly removing body fluids, environmental elements, products, etc. those things sit on the hair and start to build layers upon layers. Until removed.
2. If products that use to work well on your hair no longer helps. This is a sign of buildup.
3. If there is a lingering smell in your hair that you just cannot seem to get rid of.
4. If, even when you cleanse, your hair still feels as if there is something in it. Like a film on the hair.
5. Your hair simply does not look and act the same.
Of course, these 5 signs are not the only five signs but they are the top ones that can be easily detected.
This client (pictured) has worn protective styles for over a year. Her hair would not curl and was unresponsive to products. In the first picture you can see sort of a thin white film on the hair that makes the hair appear very dull. The hair would only present itself as a mass, as in no curls were in sight.
After. The client no longer has the white film. The hair has it's natural sheen back and curls are apparent!
If you are in the Houston and surrounding areas and your hair is showing some or all of these signs book a curl detox treatment here
Products used to help the curls were Creme de la curls moisturizer and Mango Butter Curling jellie.

The road was a long one tho. She’s made relaxer retouch appointments on my styleseat that I went right behind her and cancelled 😂. Sometimes people resort to what they are use to. Not because they like it but because it’s familiar. Some people need help thru the process and that’s where I come in. I know things get hard but you have to keep going! In the end it will be worth it, just to see something thru! ➿
➿
Not everyone can big chop right away and that’s ok. Not everyone wants to transition and that’s ok too! Do it YOUR way because YOU are the one that has to face the person in the mirror. No one else. ➿

Another one in the books ✔️

Of course I used my own products to define her curls! Clients hair was 100% dry on the right! Creme de la curls and mango butter curling jellie. This combination is best for dense, tightly curled/coiled hair. Can be used on less dense loosely curled hair but need very little product! Purchase here

I met this young lady a few weeks ago. The first week she paid just to talk to me and came armed with questions. She was struggling to accept wearing her hair in its natural state because of all of the “your hair is not the natural type of hair.” “You don’t have the kind of hair that can be worn curly.” And allll of the other negative seeds that people had planted in her head about her hair over the years. So she wore weaves, braids and other protective styles. BUT now she’s ready to wear her hair! ➿
➿
When she came last week (the week 1 pic) she was super nervous and quiet, definitely not the same young lady that I met the week prior. She was so nervous and scared of the unknown. She got her hair shaped and a wash and go and I sent her out into the world with her curls. I instantly thought “she gon’ cry in the car” because she was still very quiet. A few days later I saw her name pop up on my schedule for the same service and I instantly thought “ YES! I’m so proud of her!” This week she walked in and her confidence was there, her head held high and most importantly her hair was still out! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
➿
➿
We have a while to go with her journey but we are already making progress! I can’t wait to see where we can take these curls! See her before in my story.

I know social media will have you believing that most women are happily natural but we must remember there are still some (read: LOTS) that need our help! Offer that girl words of encouragement, not judgement. Trust me when I say she’s doubting herself enough and don’t need help! Keep your negative thoughts to yourself if you don’t like someone’s hair. No one cares that you don’t like her edges not being laid or if you don’t think she has that “natural kinda hair.” 🙄Finally, and more importantly, if you are her, you are not alone! Your hair is beautiful and is magical! 💕

I am sure at least on of those sounds like you.
If you regularly use heat:
Steaming acts as the best "heat protectant" and that's because when using heat on your hair the heat zaps the moisture. Did you know that when a person gets heat damage it is because of lack of moisture to that curl which makes the curl fall flat? With steaming you get the best amount of moisture added to the curl which can help you avoid heat damaging your hair. Of course, when heat is used properly.
Feel like your hair has lost its luster and look and feel dry:
If your hair has lost its umph it could be because it is dehydrated. Just think of how you feel after a hot day and then drinking a big bottle of water. Steam is like a big bottle of pH balanced water for your hair!
Had a color treatment:
Whether you have darkened or lightened your hair you could benefit from a steam treatment. Darkening your hair adds layers which closes the cuticles (hello low porosity). Steaming opens your cuticles to allow product saturation. If you have lightened your hair, cuticle layers have been removed from your hair (hello high porosity) causing too much product saturation. Steaming helps to tightening the cuticles to allow better product absorption.
Want to promote hair growth:
This one is important. If you struggle with growth it could be because of improper blood circulation to the scalp. The reason I am a fan of hooded steamers only is because the hood allows concentration and even steam circulation directly on the scalp.
Want more defined curls:
This one is simple but is overlooked the most. Simply put hydrated curls live their best lives! Water plus a great deep conditioning is a curls dream! The steam opens (or tightens) the cuticle of the hair for optimal product penetration.
These photos are examples of how your curls can benefit from steaming.
Week 1
Her curls were resistant to curling. It took a lot of product and manipulation to achieve these curls.
Week 2
Curls were still resistant to curling but felt softer and easier to detangle.
Week 3
Curls were easier to work with. Seems more moisturized. Less product is needed and curls are not as resistant.
Week 4
Such an amazing difference! Curls are super moisturized and noticeably defined! Curls were more cooperative! Noticeably more shrunken as well!
Let me know about your steaming progress in the comments below! Or feel free to ask questions if I have left something out that you want to know about!

The guy in the picture wears a lot of different styles with his curly hair but this day we went with the trusty puff!
For this style I did the "wash and go" technique. The wash and go technique that I use is sectioning the hair in five (or six) big sections and then applying product to smaller section of each big section. The products I used were Creme de la curls moisturizer and then Macadamia oil Styling foam. I choose this product combo for a softer hold since I knew I would pull it up in a puff afterwards.
]]>Happy Memorial Day! Heres a quick video tutorial of a flexi rod set on natural hair!
Here are the steps that I use.
1. Get the hair supplies you need.
I used large butterfly clips to section the hair. A spray bottle with water to rewet the hair when needed. I added cream de la curls to the water in the spray bottle. I set the hair using Macadamia oil styling foam to achieve shiny bouncy curls! I selected blue rods because the client has fairly long har and she did not want her curls too tight or loose.
2. Section the hair off in five sections. Use more or less section depending on the density of the hair.
3. Spray first section with water and moisturizer combo.
4. Apply foam to section.
5. Take smaller subsections and set hair.
6. Repeat until all sections are completed.
7. Dry hair.
8. Remove rods.
9. Separate the curls using a hair butter.
10. Style!
11. Slay!
